Indian Triathlon Federation Activity Report Of The Year 2006-2007
OSIM
Singapore International Triathlon Championship 2006
OSIM SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON 2006 CHAMPIONSHIP held at
Singapore on 1st and 2nd June 2006 about 3000 triathletes participated in the
above Championship. S.Mani Singh represented India in the above championship
Under Elite-Men Under 23 Category and he came 4th position.
Asian Triathlon Championship and ASTC
Annual General Meeting:
The 15th Jiayugan Asian Triathlon Championship held at Jiayugan, China on 12th
and 13th August 2006. S.Mani Singh represented India in U/23 Men Category.
Cmde J.P. Careneiro, Vice President, Indian Triathlon Federation attended the
ASTC Annual General Meeting and Congress held at Jiayugan, China.
Triathlon National Development Camp
The Indian Triathlon Federation conducted a National Development camp at the
Indian Triathlon Academy in Chennai.
The camp was conducted by the Mr. Rob Pickard, Australia.
30 triathletes took part in this camp. Triathletes were introduced to swimming
in the sea and river during the camp. Junior Athletes also went through a course
namely ‘Introduction to triathlon course’ during the camp.
Asian Games, Doha (4th
– 9th December 2006)
The 15th Asian Games was held
at Doha, Qatar. The following 2 Indians participated in the Games.

33rd National Games:
33rd national Games held at Guwahati, Assam from 9th to 18th February 2007.
Triathletes from all over the country participated in the above Championship.
The Indian Olympic Association and Assam Olympic Association made elaborate
arrangements to smooth
conduct of the Championship.

INDIAN TRIATHLON
ACADEMY:
The Tamil Nadu Triathlon
Association will be running Triathlon Academy in Chennai from 2001 on behalf of
the Indian Triathlon Federation.
The main activities of the Triathlon Academy to develop the Triathlete to
International standard. The Indian Triathlon Federation is very proud of the
continued development of the Academy with the main focus of qualifying Indian
Triathletes for the Olympic Games. The Academy has set very high standard in the
pursuit of excellence due to the fact that there are only 50 qualifying spots
for the Olympics and Triathletes at the Academy must have the potential to be
tanked in the top 150 pf World Ranking.
In Addition to the Olympics, the Academy will also focus on achieving a medal at
the Asian Games in 2010 to be held at Guangzhou, China and Commonwealth Games
2010
to be held at Delhi, India. Triathlon will make its Debut, and the Academy will
ensure that Indian Triathletes are given every chance of succeeding.
The Triathletes were training up to 6 hours per day and there was a need to
ensure that the triathletes were provided with an adequate diet and suitable
environment in which to recover.
Triathlon National Development
Camp
The Indian Triathlon Federation
conducted a National Development camp at the ICL Indian Triathlon Academy in
Chennai from 12th June to 4th July 2005.
