TRIATHLON FEDERATION ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2008 – 09
Triathlon Academy
The Indian Triathlon federation is running an Academy in Chennai to train
the probable
International Triathletes. At present 23 boys and 11 girls are taking
intensive training to attend the forthcoming International Championships.
These Traithletes have been selected during the National Championships held
during the year.
We have a separate 25M Swimming Pool for the above triahletes to practice
and have a stadium in East Coast Road for cycling and running. A National
Coach has been appointed to give them intensive training throughout the
year.
ITU Amakusa
Continental Triathlon, Japan
Ms. Pooja N. Charushi represented India in the above Championship in the
Elite Women Category and completed the race in 17th place with the timing 2
hours 34 minutes 53 seconds.
Annual General
Meeting
The Annual General Meeting of the year 2008 – 09 of the federation was held
on 14th September 2009 at Chennai. There was no change in the office bearers
of the federation.
The Officer Bearers are as under :

Asian Games -
Bali
Commodore J P Carenerio represented as Technical delegate in the above
games held at Bali from 23rd to 27th October 2008.
Sub
Junior/Junior Aquathlon/Triathlon Championships
The above Championship was allotted to Maharashtra Traithlon Association and
it was conducted at Aurangabad on 27 and 28 December 2009. Above 163
participants were gathered from 18 States of the country with 60 officials.
The distance of the event is as under :
a) Sub Junior Aquathlon (400 m swimming and 3 Km running)
b) Junior Aquathlon (750 m swimming and 5 Km running)
c) Junior Triathlon (750 m swimming, 20 Km cycling and 5 Km running)
The Karnataka State triathletes snatched the maximum medals leaving few to
Manipur and Maharashtra. Prizes worth Rupees one lakh have been distributed
to the winners along with Medals, cups and Certificates.
Open
Triathlon Championship
All state players were prepared for the National Games in which the open
championship was supposed to be held in February 2009. Due to the
infrastructure was not ready the Championships were cancelled and postponed
to next year.
Calender For The
Year 2009 - 10
The Annual General Meeting will be held in the month of June 2009.
The Sub Junior/Junior Aquathlon/Triathlon has been planned for the month of
August/September 2009.
The Open Triathlon Championship of the year has been planned for December
2009.
