The premier amateur competition framework in the sport. It allows endurance athletes to compete against peers of similar age and gender. Through the ITF National Ranking circuit, amateur triathletes can earn the honour of wearing the tri-colour and representing India at World and Continental Age Group Championships.

Who can participate?
Amateur athletes
Open to amateur athletes who meet category age limits and hold an active ITF-PIN registration.
Amateur status
Athletes must maintain amateur status — not holding elite status in the same calendar year.
Race distances

Age group categories
Athletes are divided into 5-year brackets for both Male and Female divisions.
- 16–19 years (Sprint / Super Sprint)
- 20–24 years
- 25–29 years
- 30–34 years
- 35–39 years
- 40–44 years
- 45–49 years
- 50–54 years
- 55–59 years
- 60+ years
Under World Triathlon rules, an athlete’s competitive age is determined by their age on 31 December of the competition year.
